How buying works

From a new account to a package in hand

Nothing about ordering is complicated once you have seen it once. The care is all in reading the vendor first and letting escrow do its job.

The mechanics of an order are the same on Nexus as on any serious market. What separates a good experience from a bad one is the reading you do before you click buy, and Nexus gives you plenty to read.

Make an account that is not you

Pick a username you have never used anywhere else, so nothing ties the account back to an old identity. Generate a long password in a local manager and store it there. Write the recovery phrase on paper and put it somewhere safe. Turn on the PGP two-factor step so a stolen password on its own cannot open the account.

Read the vendor before the product

This is where the market's age pays off. A vendor on Nexus usually has a long trail of completed orders and reviews behind them. Read it. Look at how recent the good reviews are, how the vendor handled the bad ones, and how long they have been active. A profile with a deep clean history is worth more than a slightly cheaper listing from a name that appeared last week.

Order, fund, and wait

Open the listing, set the options, and place the order. Fund it and the coin goes into escrow rather than straight to the vendor. The vendor ships, and when the package arrives and matches what you paid for, you confirm receipt to release the money. If something is wrong, you open a dispute instead of confirming. The escrow page covers that in full.

Keep your footprint small

Only deposit what the order in front of you needs, and withdraw anything left over to your own wallet. A market balance is a place to pass through, not a place to store coin.
